SHERER HEARS FROM BIRMINGHAM AREA PACT FAMILIES
BIRMINGHAM – Jeremy Sherer, Democratic candidate for Alabama State Treasurer, attended tonight’s meeting of the Jefferson County Chapter of Save Alabama PACT. Approximately 300 PACT owners, students and concerned citizens attended the inaugural meeting of the Jefferson County Chapter that was held at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood.
“I am committed to Alabama honoring its full contractual obligations to all PACT families”, Sherer told the members of Save Alabama PACT.
Continuing, “It is my first priority to help you secure the State’s guarantee of PACT, so the uncertainty of your children’s college future is put at ease.”
“Following securing the State’s promise to each and every one of you, I will work collaboratively with State leaders to cut the administrative costs of PACT, maximize the return on PACT investments, and find any necessary supplemental funding for PACT so as not to unduly burden the taxpayers of Alabama.”
“I urge you to continue this noble, grassroots effort of yours, ensuring that Alabama upholds its promise to you and your children. No person running for office, whether its governor, legislator, or treasurer will be able to fix PACT alone. However, for PACT to survive, it is imperative that you secure the support of every candidate that comes before you.”
Sherer concluded, “Do not let PACT or Alabama’s integrity become victim of politics. PACT and the promises made to Alabama’s children are apolitical. You are morally and legally in the right. And, through your continued civic and political engagement, it is up to each of you to ensure that right makes might.”
