Financial Literacy

One out of every five Alabama families is dependent upon non-traditional lending instruments such as payday loans, pawn brokers, and refund advance services. All Alabamians should be integrated into the traditional lending community so as to reduce the likelihood they fall prey to predatory lending practices. I will work with Alabama’s Legislature and Attorney General to protect families from predatory lending practices.

Further, financial literacy initiatives must be implemented to educate Alabamians, young and old alike, regarding the complicated financial instruments within the modern economy. I will work with other state agencies and private lending companies to implement a broad array of educational and informative media to distribute throughout Alabama.
