Presently, nearly $270 million of Alabama taxpayer money are deposited in financial institutions based outside the state of Alabama. As Treasurer, I will ensure that state taxpayer dollars are deposited in Alabama based lending institutions that are good corporate citizens within their lending communities, by utilizing state resources to grow their local economies through principled lending practices.

Currently, millions of state tax dollars are deposited in lending institutions that have been cited within the previous twelve months by federal regulators for discriminatory lending practices. As Treasurer, I will ensure that state taxpayer deposits are not placed with financial institutions that discriminate against those same taxpayers.
